We have a place for you!

The University of New Hampshire bands are open to all UNH students, regardless of major. Some groups require an audition in order to participate. Read on for more information.

Wildcat Marching Band and Beast of the East Pep Band

If you are going to be attending UNH this coming Fall and wish to be a member of the Wildcat Marching Band, then visit our forms page to fill out the participation form. You can register for Marching Band and Pep Band when you choose your courses this Summer, or add them during open registration. Many people participate in both athletic bands. Beast of the East Band rehearsals will be held during the same rehearsal time as Marching Band, so it won't add much to your schedule. Are you on Facebook? Join this group for more information and to talk to current members.

Wind Symphony, Symphonic Band, and Concert Band

An audition is required for membership in the Wind Symphony and Symphonic Band and used for seating purposes in the Concert Band. Auditions for these bands will be held during the first week of classes in September. Audition information is available below during the Summer.

Join the Beast of the East Pep Band

The Beast of the East Pep Band is an integral part of the game atmosphere at all home men's hockey games at the University of New Hampshire. In addition, the band plays at several men's and women's basketball and women's hockey games as well.

In the fall, the Beast of the East rehearses on Monday nights during the Wildcat Marching Band rehearsal slot. This allows students to be part of both ensembles without it adding much to their busy schedules. When it's a designated pep band rehearsal night, the full marching band doesn't rehearse. If a hockey game ever conflicts with marching band rehearsal, that rehearsal is canceled so students and staff can be at the game.

In the spring, the band rehearses regularly on Monday nights until the hockey and basketball seasons are over. NEW MEMBERS ARE WELCOME TO JOIN IN JANUARY. The first meeting of 2015 will be on Wednesday, January 21st for all available, but this will be the only Wednesday rehearsal (if you otherwise have a Wednesday night class, you don't need to attend). The first regular rehearsal will be on Monday, January 26th. Rehearsals are 6:10-8:00 PM in PCAC M226 (the band room).

The band is usually split up so members play at only 1/3 to 1/2 of the games. With enough warning, it is possible to switch with someone or to get a substitute if you can't make an assigned game. This makes pep band the easiest ensemble we offer in terms of scheduling!

Make sure you register for the course!

Do you want to be a part of one of the most spirited organizations on campus? Do you want to be a vital part of UNH sporting events? Become a member of the Beast of the East Pep Band!

You’ll be assigned to one of three bands: Blue, White, Silver

Each band is assigned to 1/3 of our games. You can get a sub from another band if you can't make an assigned game. Attending assigned games, volunteering at other games, and subbing for other bands earn you points toward post-season travel.
