Mark DeTurk is Associate Professor of Music at the University of New Hampshire where he serves as chair of the music department.

DeTurk is the founder and co-conductor of the New Hampshire Youth Band, which provides the most challenging performance experiences to the finest middle school wind and percussion students in the Seacoast New Hampshire, Maine and Massachusetts region.

As Director of the Summer Youth Music School (SYMS), DeTurk helps provide advanced music instruction at UNH each summer to middle school and high school students from around the country. During the fourteen years he has been director, enrollment at SYMS has risen from 325 to roughly 1,000 students each summer.

With degrees from Princeton University, the Ohio State University, and the University of Wisconsin, DeTurk has worked as a school band director in Janesville, Wisconsin, and as Director of Bands and instructor of clarinet, oboe and bassoon at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. During his career he has adjudicated and guest conducted a variety of concert bands across the country, including public school festival bands and the college bands at Wisconsin, Michigan and Ohio State.
